Causes and Troubleshooting of Reduced Operating Current in Electric Heaters

Causes and troubleshooting of current reduction during heater operation:

Cause analysis: Internal electric heating tubes are burned out. When the electric heater is installed horizontally, the gas medium contains a lot of dust or the inlet and outlet air pressure difference is low, causing dust to accumulate inside the heater and cover the heating tubes, preventing heat dissipation and eventually burning out the tubes. The bottom heating tubes are most prone to burnout.

Troubleshooting: Regularly record the operating current of each group of electric heaters. If the maximum operating current of a specific group gradually decreases, it can be determined that the internal heating tubes are burned out. A few burned-out tubes will not affect system operation; replacement can be done during unit shutdown maintenance. If most tubes are burned out and the heater outlet temperature cannot meet system requirements, appropriately increase the maximum power of the faulty group to ensure normal system operation.
